Secret Smile
by Ru
(written 2004)
cold fingers don’t hold things well,
buses doubled up and left her again.
she watches the spot where they used to play,
so much promise,
so much to say,
giggling and singing,
they danced in the flowers,
but now they don’t sing there anymore,
and secrets are forgotten in love.
walking through the paved garden she sighs.
the trees echoing the residual whispers,
smiling at the red circle,
the spot of much ambitious thought,
and feats of bravery
she smiles a secret smile.
